a big day for zoominfo

March 10, 2009

ZoomInfo, a search engine that scours the Web to find information about businesses, people, and industries, has landed Microsoft as a client.

Microsoft will be integrating the search engine into their Dynamic CRM Platform. This merger will allow users to identify and qualify more sales leads, update data on existing customers, and provide a single data source to integrate sales and marketing teams.

This is a big score for ZoomInfo in a highly-competitive people search market. Expect this profitable company to keep the partnerships coming (they’ve already landed SalesForce.com and Sugar CRM).

According to TechCrunch, ZoomInfo’s semantic based search engine and its vast information-delivery capabilities have caught the eye of quite a few Fortune 500 tech companies, including Oracle and Yahoo! (ZoomInfo offers a premium service products like highly powered executive only searches to companies).

ZoomInfo culls much of its information from press releases and corporate bios and charges a subscription to have that information revealed. Very Web 1.0, Michael Arrington once said in a write-up of the company, but if it works, it works.
