firednetwork changes its name
July 25, 2009
FiredNetwork.com – a new site we reported on last month – has already changed its name.
The site, now known as FiredUpNetwork.com, hopes the minuscule change will better capture the site’s purpose to provide resources to a community of members who are “fired up” about making a career change.
The original concept of the site was to provide networking and resources to help people who have been laid off find a new job. The site’s team identified, researched and compiled more than 1,500 information items that comprise the site’s resources.
However, the team realized the site has a much broader appeal than simply catering to those who have been laid off. Anyone considering making a professional change, regardless of the state of their career or the economy, can benefit from its resources and networking community.
“Though it is a small change, adding a two letter word, it changes the whole perception of the site,” Founder Matthew Pizzi said. “The name is now more uplifting and has longevity.”
The site categorizes information by: employment opportunities, entrepreneurial pursuits, company purchase for owner operation, fundraising and post-graduate education. The resource section is designed in a wiki-like format where members can rate, comment on and add their own items to the knowledge database.
FiredUpNetwork facilitates member networking through a robust search function that allows users to search the entire community of members by location, university affiliation, profession and reasons for joining the site. Members also can use the site’s “Extended Network,” which consists of everyone who is two degrees of separation away.
